Heraklion lost all of its Venetian-Oriental charm due to air raids during World War II. Its biggest attraction is currently the Archaeological Museum, which Julek took advantage of by photographing valuable monuments from the Minoan period. Due to time constraints, it was not possible to thoroughly explore the entire capital of Crete, as the main destination of the trip was nearby Knossos.
